I finally did it! I finished the game! And I thought I'd do a short Spoiler Free post about my thoughts on the game! Firstly I'm going to talk about the story of Pokemon Legends Arceus. This game has a more mature feel and It goes a lot darker than I thought I'd ever see a Pokémon game go, which personally I like because it's something different. I also feel as though Arceus was intended for a slightly older audience because I couldn't imagine a young child playing this and getting into the story and enjoying it, in the same way, I couldn't see a kid playing or enjoying Breath of the Wild. I wouldn't say that the story in this game is amazing but it certainly is more interesting than what has been in some of the more recent Pokémon games. Your Main Mission in this game is to "Seek out all Pokémon", there are lots of different missions that you will take on during the Main Story as well before you can fulfil this main quest, like Quelling the Nobles to unlock all the areas. You will more than likely hit the credits when you get about 20 hours in but if you want to get the true ending in this game you have to catch at least one of each Pokémon for the Pokedex, which I think for this game makes sense, after all, it is a game that is about catching Pokémon and researching them and I suppose it would be weird if you could achieve the true ending in the game with a half-finished Pokedex. However completing the Pokedex in this game can be quite time consuming and I think that most of this was due to Space Time Distortions being so hard to spawn, (Which is a new mechanic for this game) in the end up I had to just leave my Switch turned on and just wait around until one spawned and just hoping that it would spawn in the Pokémon that I needed to complete my Pokedex. There is so much to do in this game even after you've finished all of the main quests and got the true ending. First of all, if you haven't already done there are the Wisps and the Unown to collect in the world and I will admit I followed guides online to get these done because some of them are quite difficult to find on your own (Thanks Austin John Plays). There are also lots of side quests to do in the game epically after the free DLC Day Break Update that was added to the game after the latest Pokémon presents, where it added a new story with new missions and missions from "Path of Solitude" for certain Pokémon and "The Eternal Battle Reverie" which is a great way to get some EV items and money in the postgame. I did have the majority of the side quests finished as I did them throughout completing the main story but there was a couple I had outstanding after I finished the game so I checked these off as well. I will be honest though, I didn't finish all of the "Path of Solitude" missions from the Day Break update because I just got bored of the battles, but I think that's because I'm not much of a competitive Pokémon player. Another thing I did after I did the main story was I wanted to get my Pokedex to Rank 10 and fully complete each entry, because it felt weird to just leave it unfinished at Rank 9 even though I had finished the main story. I actually really enjoyed doing the research tasks for each Pokémon as it gave me the chance to play with different Pokémon because usually in other Pokémon games I would have stuck with one team throughout the game and I wouldn't try out different Pokémon, but this game has completely changed that. I didn't perfect every entry just because I felt like that would take me way too long to do and it wasn't really necessary but it felt very rewarding getting the Pokedex to rank 10 and finish it especially because it was such a grind to do. Something I want to mention as well is shinny's because shinny hunting has always been a big part of the Pokémon games and the community. You get the shiny charm in this game after getting your Pokedex to rank 10 but in my opinion, you don't really need it because the chances of coming across a shiny Pokémon are already quite high. People in the Pokémon community have been testing this and yes it does seem to be the case that the spawn rate of shiny Pokémon in Arceus is increased. I was going around the Cobalt Coastlines looking for lost bags so that I could buy the last evolution items I needed for my Pokedex and I came across two shiny's one after the other! I lucky was able to capture the moment on video! I think that Pokémon Legends Arceus was an ambitious project by Gamefreak and yes the visuals sometimes look rough, but the core gameplay is amazing, there is so much to do and it feels so cool to just be able to sneak around with your Pokeballs and catch Pokémon in the open world, to me this is the most alive Pokémon has ever felt. The only thing I'm worried about going forward is how is the Pokémon Game series going to Evolve (See what I did there?) from here. Obviously, we've had the announcement of Scarlet and Violet at the last Pokémon Presents and it has been mentioned that this is going to be an open-world game, I just hope that they put in some of the cool mechanics from Arceus. I'd honestly be happy if "Legends" became its own spin-off series alongside the main series games, however, I think this might have just been a little Experiment by GameFreak to introduce us to the idea of an open-world Pokémon game and I have a feeling that the idea might have spawned from the Wild Area from Pokémon Sword and Shield, which for me was the most interesting part about that game. So what did you think about Pokémon Legends Arceus? is this the direction that Pokémon should continue to go?

Stardew Valley is a Farming Simulation RPG that was released in 2016 developed by Eric Barone known online as ConcernedApe. The game was first released for Windows but it has now been ported to virtually every platform, even onto mobile! Every Thursday Night I've been playing the game on stream and I'm loving playing it, however, this isn't my first experience of the game. I first played Stardew last year after I watched Gab Smolders playing it on Twitch and I enjoyed having it in the background while I was finishing off some of my coursework from University, as I was doing University completely from home due to COVID. I picked up the physical edition of the game on Switch from FanGamer on Amazon and it came with a little guide booklet, which can help new players get started with the game, it defiantly did help me when I started alongside the online Wiki! The Minute I played the game for the first time I was hooked on it and it's now become one of my comfort games. |
